Tombo

Tombo is a Bourbon Red turkey with a larger-than-life personality and a heart every bit as big as his feathers. He arrived at Butterfly Valley Rescue & Sanctuary alongside his lifelong best friend, Kiki, after she was rescued with severe neurological challenges caused by a nutritional deficiency. While Kiki needed specialized rehabilitation and intensive care, Tombo came for one simple but important reason—because no little turkey should have to face the world alone.

From the beginning, Tombo took his role seriously. As Kiki grew stronger, he naturally became her devoted protector, proudly standing watch as her self-appointed bodyguard. Whether escorting her around the sanctuary or keeping a careful eye on everything happening nearby, Tombo was always ready to defend his best friend. His bold personality even shows physically, with the skin on his head and neck turning a brilliant red whenever he enters full "security mode."

Though he can look fierce, Tombo is full of charm, curiosity, and endless entertainment. He’s known for his funny antics, including cooling off by perching on water troughs with his tail feathers dangling in the water, proving he always has a creative solution to beating the summer heat.

Today, Tombo lives the life every turkey deserves—safe, cherished, and free to simply be himself. He is a joyful reminder that loyalty, friendship, and love come in every species, and that sometimes the greatest heroes have feathers.
