Ruth
Ruth, also known as Roo, is one of our sanctuary’s tiniest troublemakers with one of the biggest personalities. She came to the sanctuary immediately after birth following an emergency call for a pygmy goat mom struggling through a difficult labor. Ruth was the smallest of four babies, weighing just 2.7 pounds, and was initially having trouble with her back legs. To give her the best chance at survival, she was brought into sanctuary care.
Though she started life fragile, Ruth quickly proved she had no intention of staying small in spirit. Her legs improved, her confidence exploded, and she grew into one of the rare “healthy” babies to call Butterfly Valley home. But healthy does not mean calm — because Ruth has fully embraced her role as the resident gremlin, escape artist, snack thief, and tiny chaos manager.
With her blue eyes, mighty attitude, and complete disregard for boundaries, Ruth keeps everyone on their toes. Whether she’s plotting her next food heist, sneaking into places she absolutely should not be, modeling at outreach events, or using her innocent face to avoid consequences, Ruth reminds us that sanctuary life is not always quiet — but it is always full of love, laughter, and just a little bit of goat crime.
