Nubby

Nubby is a special-needs rescue rabbit whose quiet resilience has touched everyone at Butterfly Valley Rescue & Sanctuary. Born without external ears—or having lost them very early in life—Nubby arrived after living through severe neglect that left her with over a year's worth of painful bacterial buildup, chronic infection, and ear mites deep within her ear canals. Knowing she needed specialized long-term care, her previous caregiver and a team of transport volunteers helped bring her across Kentucky to her forever home.

From the very beginning, Nubby amazed everyone with her gentle spirit. Despite requiring weeks of careful veterinary treatment and delicate ear cleanings, she remained calm, patient, and incredibly trusting. Little by little, the pain of her past was replaced with comfort, healing, and kindness.

Today, Nubby is thriving. She spends her days exploring the grass, stretching out in the sunshine, and enjoying fresh snacks like every rabbit deserves. Her journey is a beautiful reminder that healing takes time, compassion, and patience—and that even the smallest animals can show extraordinary courage.
