Monkey

Monkey is our beloved tripod sheep and one of the gentlest souls you could ever meet. At just 16 months old, Monkey suffered a devastating degloving injury to his leg, leaving his previous owners facing heartbreaking choices: amputation, auction, or euthanasia. Wanting something better for him, they reached out for help — and thanks to support from the community, Monkey received the surgery he needed along with a forever home at the sanctuary.

Monkey arrived at the sanctuary the day after his amputation, and it didn’t take long for everyone to realize just how special he truly was. Even while recovering from major surgery, Monkey calmly made his way around the sanctuary checking on the other residents, almost as if he understood they needed comfort too. Smart, patient, gentle, and endlessly loving, Monkey quickly became known as one of the sanctuary’s quiet guardians.

Today, Monkey thrives as a happy three-legged sheep who has never let being different slow him down. Whether he’s spending time with his flock mates, greeting visitors, or simply making his rounds around the sanctuary, Monkey is a living reminder that resilience and kindness can coexist in the most beautiful ways.
