Midnight

Midnight is a special-needs rooster who has called Butterfly Valley Rescue & Sanctuary home since the day he hatched. As one of the very few animals ever born at the sanctuary, Midnight has grown up surrounded by love, becoming a familiar and cherished member of the Butterfly Valley family.

In 2023, Midnight suffered an unknown leg injury that changed the way he moved forever. Despite trying numerous treatment options, he never regained the use of the injured leg. Although he still has both legs, Midnight chooses to get around on just one—and somehow makes it look effortless. His determination, balance, and confidence are a daily reminder that animals are often far more adaptable than we give them credit for.

Today, Midnight thrives in a specially designed environment where he can safely explore, dust bathe, crow, and enjoy life at his own pace. Gentle, resilient, and full of personality, he helps show visitors that physical differences do not define an animal's happiness. Around Butterfly Valley, Midnight stands as living proof that different is beautiful.
