Fiona
Fiona is the oldest pig resident at our sanctuary and one of the most important animals in the sanctuary’s story. More than a decade ago, she arrived after surviving a horrific dog attack that left her physically injured, emotionally traumatized, and facing an uncertain future. Despite everything she had endured, Fiona somehow found the strength to trust again.
As her wounds healed, Fiona formed an extraordinary bond with Nikki—one built on patience, love, and mutual trust. What began as daily medical care soon became a friendship unlike any other. Fiona would run to greet her favorite human, seek out affection, and prove time and time again just how deeply animals can love. Over the years, she has become known not only for her gentle nature, but also for her remarkable intuition, even helping Nikki during a medical seizure when she sensed something was wrong.
Today, Fiona spends her days surrounded by the family who loves her, often sharing her space with chickens perched on her back and soaking up all the attention she can get. She is more than a rescue pig—she is a symbol of healing, trust, and the profound impact that animals can have on our lives. Fiona helped build the heart of Butterfly Valley, and her legacy continues every day she is here.
