Pippi
Pippi is a rescue pigeon whose story began on a wet sidewalk in Old Louisville, where she was found soaked, injured, and so still that the kind man who discovered her was not even sure she was alive. But he refused to walk away. He cleaned her up, searched for help, and gave Butterfly Valley Rescue & Sanctuary the chance to say yes to a bird many others may have dismissed.
When Pippi arrived, her wing injury was serious enough that there was a chance she may never fly again. But at Butterfly Valley, “can’t fly” does not mean “can’t live.” With veterinary care, splinting, rest, and patience, Pippi was given the safe, loved ground-pigeon life she deserved.
Today, Pippi is known for her incredibly docile, gentle personality and her quiet charm. She is not vermin. She is not disposable. She is a living reminder that even the smallest, most overlooked animals deserve compassion, safety, and a chance to be seen.
