Pidge
Pidge is a rescued pigeon who came to Butterfly Valley Rescue & Sanctuary after being found outside a workplace with what appeared to be an injured wing. The person who discovered Pidge could see that something was wrong with the way the wing was being held or used and began searching for someone who could help.
Unfortunately, the local pigeon rescue they contacted was already full, and the only veterinary option they were offered was euthanasia. Wanting to give Pidge a chance, they continued reaching out until the story found its way to Butterfly Valley.
Pidge arrived at the sanctuary with a suspected wing injury that appeared to interfere with normal flight. Because the exact nature of the injury was not yet known, Pidge was placed in a safe, controlled environment where movement could be limited while the wing was given time to rest and heal. This period of confinement also allowed for close observation of mobility, comfort, appetite, and overall condition.
For now, Pidge’s journey is still being written. Pidge is receiving supportive care, a quiet place to recover, and something every injured animal deserves: the opportunity to be more than the outcome someone else had already decided. Whether Pidge ultimately returns to full flight or requires continued sanctuary support, Pidge is safe, valued, and surrounded by people willing to give that chance.
