Phoebe
Phoebe, affectionately known as Princess Phoebe, is one of the most iconic residents at our sanctuary. She arrived at just sixteen days old weighing less than six pounds after a difficult start to life that left her cold, weak, and fighting for survival. Veterinarians soon discovered a severe leg fracture and joint infection, and at only nineteen days old, Phoebe underwent an emergency amputation surgery.
Most goats would have needed time to adjust. Phoebe apparently missed that memo.
Less than four hours after surgery, she was already running around the veterinary office, and she has never looked back. Today, Phoebe lives life entirely on her own terms, with enough sass, confidence, and personality for a goat four times her size. Whether she’s attending outreach events, meeting new friends, ignoring rules she finds inconvenient, or politely rejecting the boys' latest attempts to win her affection, Phoebe approaches every day with joy and determination.
More than anything, Phoebe has become a powerful ambassador for differently-abled farm animals. She challenges people to see beyond disabilities and recognize the individuality, intelligence, and spirit of every animal. Phoebe doesn’t see herself as limited, and anyone who meets her quickly realizes she isn’t. She is a living reminder that different is beautiful—and that sometimes the smallest goats make the biggest impact.
