Francine
Francine is a special-needs fancy pigeon whose tiny feet have become a beautiful reminder that the world can be adapted to fit those who need it most. Born with severe congenital deformities in both feet, Francine has difficulty standing, balancing, walking, and perching the way a typical pigeon would. But from the moment she arrived at Butterfly Valley Rescue & Sanctuary, she made one thing perfectly clear—she had no intention of letting her differences slow her down.
With custom foot wraps, padded perches, and a carefully designed habitat, Francine has everything she needs to live comfortably while still embracing her wonderfully opinionated personality. She flies, eats, explores, and keeps a watchful eye on everything happening around the sanctuary, often doing so with an expression that suggests she has thoughts about absolutely everyone.
Full of confidence, charm, and just the right amount of drama, Francine has become an ambassador for the idea that accommodations are not about changing who someone is—they're about giving them the opportunity to thrive. Around Butterfly Valley, her unique little feet are not seen as a limitation, but simply one more beautiful way that different can look.
