Suzy Q was a spirited Embden goose whose larger-than-life personality made her unforgettable at Butterfly Valley Rescue & Sanctuary. She arrived alongside her sister, Black Eyed Susan, at just 10 weeks old, both battling severe wry neck caused by a vitamin deficiency. With dedicated treatment, patience, and lots of love, Suzy Q recovered beautifully and quickly became the outspoken queen of the sanctuary's waterfowl.

Known for her endless sass and fearless attitude, Suzy Q made it her mission to keep everyone in line. She was fiercely protective of her sister, especially when Black Eyed Susan became ill and needed a wheelchair, never hesitating to chase away anyone she thought was getting too close. Beneath that tough exterior, though, was a deeply loyal heart. The bond the two sisters shared was extraordinary and became one of the sanctuary's most treasured friendships.

Suzy Q's story carried special meaning from the very beginning. She likely shared the birthday of Brandon's late mother, Susanne—affectionately known as "Susie Q"—making her name feel like more than coincidence. Though her passing came far too soon, she left this world surrounded by love, spending her final night peacefully beside Abi, who adored her.
