Stitch

Stitch was a tiny goat with a giant heart and a story that perfectly captured the spirit of Butterfly Valley Rescue & Sanctuary. He arrived at just one week old after being born without his back hooves, a congenital difference that made walking painful and difficult without support. His previous family knew he needed specialized care, and through Lawson’s Heart, Stitch found his way to the sanctuary and into the family who would love him completely.

From the beginning, Stitch refused to let his differences define him. With creative padding, a wheelchair, and eventually custom boots from Specialized Pet Solutions, he learned to move through the world in his own way. But because he spent so much time indoors with the dogs — especially his pal Lilo — Stitch seemed fairly convinced he was a dog, not a goat.

Sweet, mischievous, comforting, and deeply loved, Stitch became an inspiration to everyone who followed his journey. He helped show the world that special-needs animals are not broken or weird — they are limited edition. Though he passed away unexpectedly on June 25, 2023, Stitch’s legacy lives on in every animal given a chance because of the path he helped create.

Stitch was love. Stitch was family. And family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten.
