Stella
Stella was a brave, gentle goat whose story was marked by resilience, love, and an unbreakable bond with her brother George. She came to Butterfly Valley Rescue & Sanctuary after battling a severe joint infection that caused her to lose the use of one leg early in life. As her infection worsened and a historic cold spell hit Kentucky, her family brought her inside and fought hard to help her heal before ultimately reaching out for sanctuary support.
Despite repeated attempts to save her leg, Stella’s infection continued to progress, and she underwent a partial amputation on January 23, 2023. Her recovery was difficult, with her amputation site struggling to heal, but Stella faced every challenge with incredible patience and sweetness. Through bandage changes, medical care, and uncertainty, she remained gentle, trusting, and full of quiet strength.
Though Stella’s life ended far too soon, her impact remains deeply felt. She was more than her medical challenges — she was loving, resilient, and deeply cherished. Her memory lived on through George, through the sanctuary’s mission, and through every special soul given a chance because Stella helped show just how much these lives matter.
