Rhea
Rhea was a fierce, sassy, and unforgettable Nubian/LaMancha goat who brought her full New York attitude all the way to our sanctuary. Her story began when she was just two days old, after she was rescued in Central New York suffering from frostbite, pneumonia, and severe injuries from a rat attack that damaged her tail and back legs. For nearly three months, her first rescuers fought to help her survive and grow strong enough to make the long journey to Kentucky.
When Rhea finally arrived, stepping off the RV like the tiny rockstar she was, she immediately made it clear that she was here to live loudly. Though her early injuries left lasting damage, including arthritis and a “bad” back leg, Rhea refused to let that define her. She became one of the sassiest residents in the Specials Pen, known for escaping, stealing food, ruling from her throne bed, and reminding everyone that she was very much in charge.
Rhea passed away suddenly at just three years old, leaving behind a heartbreak as big as her personality. But her life was filled with love, comfort, family, snacks, mischief, and the kind of joy she fought so hard to experience. Rhea was never supposed to survive — but she did more than survive. She lived.
