Pretzel
Pretzel was the very first special-needs chicken welcomed to Butterfly Valley Rescue & Sanctuary, and her tiny crooked beak helped shape the sanctuary's future. Rescued at just four weeks old with a severe crossbeak, Pretzel faced challenges that made eating difficult, but with adaptive care, specialized feeding, and plenty of love, she thrived. She quickly became inseparable from her fluffy best friend, Popcorn, proving that a little determination could overcome even the biggest obstacles.
Despite having one of the most severe cases of crossbeak the sanctuary had ever encountered, Pretzel never let her difference define her. She gained weight, loved cuddles, played with her friends, and showed everyone that a bird with special needs could live a joyful, fulfilling life. Her remarkable journey opened the sanctuary's eyes to the many chickens born with beak deformities and inspired future rescues like Honey and Libi.
Though Pretzel's life was far too short, her impact was immeasurable. She became one of the earliest ambassadors for Butterfly Valley's belief that Different Is Beautiful, reminding everyone that sometimes the smallest residents leave the biggest legacy.
