Perry
Perry was a tiny rescue lamb whose life at Butterfly Valley Rescue & Sanctuary lasted just 56 hours, but whose impact will never be measured in days. Arriving alongside his brother Levi at only a week old, Perry was already fighting an overwhelming battle against a severe parasite burden and illness that had gone unnoticed before his rescue. Despite everything his little body had endured, he remained gentle, cuddly, and eager to soak up every bit of love he was offered.
From the moment Perry arrived, he was surrounded by compassion. He received immediate veterinary care, medications, bottle feedings, and around-the-clock monitoring as everyone fought alongside him. When it became clear that his body was losing the battle, he was never alone. Wrapped in loving arms throughout the night, Perry was comforted by gentle voices, warm embraces, and even lullabies played by Abi on her ukulele as he peacefully slipped away.
Though his time was heartbreakingly short, Perry knew warmth instead of loneliness, kindness instead of neglect, and unconditional love until his very last breath. His story reminds us that rescue is not only about the lives we are able to save, but also about ensuring that every life—no matter how brief—is filled with dignity, compassion, and the knowledge that they mattered.
