Oliver
Oliver was one of the goats who changed everything for our sanctuary. Rescued at just three days old after failing to thrive, Oliver was one of four babies and was unable to nurse or walk well on his own. After being helped from the day he was born, he came home for the intensive care he needed — and in many ways, his rescue became the beginning of the sanctuary’s journey into goat rescue.
For the first seven months of his life, Oliver lived indoors and had no idea he was supposed to be a goat. He seemed to think he was part dog, part human, and fully entitled to lap-goat status. The tiny 7-pound baby eventually grew into a majestic 160-pound gentle giant with a huge heart, a thick “Yeti-goat” winter coat, and absolutely no understanding of his own size.
Oliver was love in goat form — stubborn, social, mischievous, and deeply bonded to his family. He was the first to greet visitors, a comfort to new residents, and a true ambassador for the sanctuary, even being voted Pet President by Feeders Supply in 2020. To Nikki, he was her soul goat. To the sanctuary, he was a beginning, a reason, and a piece of its heart.
When Oliver passed away suddenly after a devastating medical emergency, he left behind a hole that could never be filled. But his legacy lives on in every rescue who came after him, every life given a second chance, and every reminder that one tiny struggling baby goat can change the course of everything.
