Namaste

Namaste was a resilient little chicken whose story reminded us that sometimes all an animal needs is a place where they can simply belong. At just three months old, Namaste came to Butterfly Valley Rescue & Sanctuary after a leg injury caused a slipped tendon that healed abnormally, leaving one leg turned completely backward. Though he had learned to adapt in his own way, life in a traditional flock became difficult as he was repeatedly bullied by the other chickens.

Originally believed to be a hen, Namaste quickly surprised everyone by revealing he was actually a handsome young rooster. Named for the graceful yoga-like pose created by his unique leg, he embraced life with quiet determination and settled beautifully among the sanctuary's other special-needs birds. Gentle, adaptable, and full of heart, Namaste showed that differences never define an animal's worth.

Although his time with us was far too short, Namaste knew safety, acceptance, and unconditional love. His journey remains a beautiful reminder that every animal deserves a chance to thrive exactly as they are, and that sometimes the strongest spirits are found in the smallest, most unexpected places.
