Mabel

Mabel was a brave little goat who came to Butterfly Valley Rescue & Sanctuary at just 16 weeks old after an incredibly difficult start to life. Born with multiple congenital limb deformities, she had already undergone surgery on one front leg while the other remained severely affected. She also arrived with a heavy lice infestation, anemia, profound swelling throughout her body, and weakness that required intensive daily care.

Despite everything her tiny body endured, Mabel never lost her gentle spirit. She loved cuddles, happily "talked" to her caregivers, and approached each day with quiet curiosity and determination. Her care included medications, compression therapy, cold laser treatments, adaptive mobility support, and countless hours of hands-on nursing as everyone fought to give her every possible chance.

Although Mabel's body ultimately could not overcome the many congenital challenges she faced, she spent her final days surrounded by love, comfort, and people who never stopped believing she deserved to be fought for. Her story is a reminder that every life, no matter how brief, has immeasurable value—and that different is beautiful.
