Lincoln
Lincoln was a gentle Broad Breasted White turkey whose life, though far too short, helped change the way people saw turkeys. Rescued from a fate so many like him never escape, Lincoln was given something rare — safety, compassion, and the chance to simply be loved as an individual.
In the short time he called Butterfly Valley Rescue & Sanctuary home, Lincoln’s sweet nature left a deep impression. He reminded everyone who met him that turkeys are not just symbols of a holiday or products of an industry, but living beings with personalities, feelings, and a desire to live free from fear.
Like many Broad Breasted White turkeys, Lincoln faced the hidden health challenges caused by selective breeding for rapid growth and unnatural size. His passing came suddenly and without clear answers, but what we do know is that he left this world warm, safe, cared for, and loved.
Lincoln’s legacy lives on in every turkey given a second chance because of his story, and in every heart that chooses compassion after seeing him as someone, not something.
