Joy
Joy was a beloved special-needs rescue lamb whose name perfectly reflected the light she brought into the world. Born with congenital tendon contractures affecting three of her legs, Joy arrived at Butterfly Valley Rescue & Sanctuary at just 18 days old after her devoted family made the selfless decision to seek the specialized care she needed. Small but incredibly determined, she quickly embraced her custom wheelchair, taking her first independent steps and proving that her spirit was far stronger than her physical challenges.
Joy approached every day with enthusiasm and wonder. She loved hay, toys, cuddles, and exploring the world from her wheels—including a magical holiday adventure where she even went "ice skating" in her wheelchair. Her bright personality, fierce determination, and endless appetite for life touched everyone who had the privilege of meeting her.
Although Joy's time with us was heartbreakingly short, she filled every moment with exactly what her name promised. Her legacy reminds us that joy isn't measured by the length of a life, but by the love, hope, and inspiration shared along the way. Different is beautiful, and Joy lived that message every single day.
