Jessie

Jessie was the tiniest goat ever welcomed to Butterfly Valley Rescue & Sanctuary at the time, arriving at less than 24 hours old weighing just 2.2 pounds. Severely hypothermic when she was rescued, her family worked through the night to warm her, provide colostrum, and give her the fighting chance she deserved. Though incredibly small, Jessie had an enormous personality, quickly earning the nickname "tiny but mighty" as she loudly made sure everyone knew she was the boss.

Despite receiving around-the-clock care and every intervention possible, the effects of the neglect she experienced before rescue were simply too great to overcome. Jessie passed away peacefully less than 48 hours after arriving at the sanctuary, surrounded by the love of the family who refused to let her face the end of her journey alone.

Though her time was heartbreakingly brief, Jessie left an unforgettable impact. She reminded everyone just how precious and fragile life can be, and her story continues to inspire Butterfly Valley's commitment to giving even the smallest, most vulnerable animals a chance to be loved, protected, and remembered.
