Debbie Waddles
Debbie Waddles was a sweet blind rescue chicken whose gentle spirit quickly found a home at Butterfly Valley Rescue & Sanctuary. After losing her vision following an attack by other chickens, Debbie needed a safe place where she could live without fear. She arrived with an unusual upright waddle that earned her the name "Debbie Waddles," a gait that made her look more like a duck than a chicken and only added to her charm.
Despite her blindness and the many hardships she had endured, Debbie adapted almost immediately to sanctuary life. She was warmly welcomed into the Little Pen by the special-needs animals, forming fast friendships. Debbie embraced each day with quiet determination, proving that kindness and acceptance can help even the most vulnerable animals feel at home.
Although her time at the sanctuary lasted only a few short days, Debbie experienced exactly what every animal deserves: safety, compassion, and unconditional love. Her story is a reminder that sometimes the greatest gift we can give is not more time, but making sure every moment an animal has is filled with comfort, dignity, and belonging.
