Chilly
Chilly was a resilient little Spanish goat whose determination far outweighed her size. After suffering devastating frostbite as a newborn during a winter cold snap, she lost both ears and faced the gradual loss of one of her back legs. Yet from the moment she arrived at Butterfly Valley, Chilly refused to let her differences define her. Feisty, playful, and full of personality, she quickly became known for her independent streak—once delaying her own rescue by nearly 90 minutes because she refused to be caught—and for the way she would instantly melt into your arms for cuddles.
Despite everything she had already overcome, Chilly embraced life with incredible joy. She formed close friendships with Lucky and Hazel, adapted remarkably to her changing body, and inspired everyone who met her with her resilience. Just days after a reassuring veterinary visit, her life changed in an instant when a sudden neurological event, believed to be polioencephalomalacia, claimed her without warning.
Though her time was far too short, Chilly showed the world that strength is not measured by perfect bodies, but by an unbreakable spirit. She reminded us that even the smallest fighters can leave the biggest footprints on our hearts, and her story will forever stand as a beautiful example that different is beautiful.
