Carl

Carl was a courageous special-needs rescue lamb whose determination inspired everyone who followed his journey. Rescued at around six weeks old, Carl arrived at Butterfly Valley Rescue & Sanctuary severely underweight and battling joint ill, tendon contractures, and traumatic injuries to all four legs and his ears. Despite every obstacle, he never stopped fighting. After intensive medical care, he underwent a front leg amputation to remove the devastating infection and amazed everyone with how quickly he embraced physical therapy, his custom wheelchair, and the chance to stand on his own again.

Carl approached each new challenge with remarkable resilience. Whether learning to balance on three legs, relaxing in his favorite dog bed, or working through therapy sessions, he met every day with quiet determination and an incredible will to live. He reminded us that courage isn't the absence of hardship—it's choosing to keep going despite it.

Although Carl's journey lasted just 47 unforgettable days, his impact will last a lifetime. He taught us to celebrate every victory, no matter how small, and showed that even the shortest lives can leave the deepest footprints. Carl will always be remembered as one of the bravest little fighters to ever call Butterfly Valley home.
