Daisy
Daisy was one of the founding residents of Butterfly Valley Rescue & Sanctuary and the pig who helped inspire everything the sanctuary would become. Born at the family's home, she spent her entire nine-year life surrounded by the people who loved her most. After surviving a devastating dog attack that claimed both of her ears, Daisy defied every expectation through months of intensive rehabilitation. Instead of letting her trauma define her, she emerged stronger than ever, becoming the confident, fearless leader of the herd.
Though she ruled with confidence, Daisy was also deeply loved by her family and especially close to her gentle brother, WeeWee. She taught everyone around her that resilience is not the absence of hardship, but the courage to keep moving forward despite it. Her remarkable recovery showed that even the most severely injured animals can heal, adapt, and live joyful, meaningful lives.
When Daisy passed away after a suspected battle with cancer, the sanctuary lost far more than a resident—they lost a best friend, a family member, and the animal who first showed them what was possible. Her legacy lives on in every life Butterfly Valley has saved since, reminding us that one extraordinary animal truly can change the world.
