Peanut came to us at 10 weeks old. Peanut came from a very loving home that were worried whether or not they could provide the care necessary as Peanut grew. Peanut is a true hermaphrodite and we are going to have to watch their development closely as it is likely that Peanut will need a urethrostomy as he grows due to his anatomy.
Peanut came to us weighing just 9lbs despite being 2.5 months old. This tiny little one brings a brand new challenge to our sanctuary crew as a hermaphrodite or intersex goat. Peanut has what is called polled intersex syndrome (PIS) and is the result of breeding two polled goats. Hermaphrodite percentage rates were as high as 6-11% of goat herds in the U.S in the early 20th century. Peanut has a very sassy attitude and is a very independent little goat.
